How would you describe your style?
Effortless, colourful, chic. These are the three words that I would use. I love to mix things. I don’t actually think about how I dress, I just get up and I put things on and somehow that makes sense to me. I think that’s the most important thing if I’m honest. I love colours so much, so I have no fear about making bold statements when it comes to choosing my pieces. Colour makes me happy. So depending on how I feel, I will pick something that will either complement or boost my mood. I love prints, I love flowers and I love long dresses. I also like to add to my looks with big earrings, necklaces or rings. So everything complements the look without having to think too much about it. Classic, chic pieces have been more of a staple in my wardrobe in the last few years. I think because life has changed. We grow older and I guess you look at fashion slightly differently.
What are two things you would save from your wardrobe in a fire and why?
I would save my Simone Rocha dress that my husband and my daughter gave me as a Christmas present four years ago. It’s the dress I have worn the most. I’m so in love with Simone Rocha. I think she’s exquisite. The second piece I would save would be from Lee McQueen. A very old piece from the archive; maybe 15 or 16 years old. It’s black. I don’t wear black, but it’s black. It’s all lace and has a really sharp cut at the front. I loved it so much when I bought it. I haven’t worn it much but every single time I wear it it causes a stir!
What is your favourite ever pre loved purchase and why?
So I didn’t actually purchase this piece. It was given to me by my mother in-law. It’s a coat she wore in the 60’s. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a luscious dark brown with an amazing belt and buttons from the 60’s. I wear it day and night. In the day I might wear it with a long skirt or my Stella McCartney pants and a nice jumper. In the evening I wear it with a long dress. It looks divine.
What is the one thing you wish you could tell your 16 year old self?
I will remind myself rather than telling myself, to always be strong, to stand your ground, but always be kind to others. This has been my motto for most of my life. Part of life is making decisions, running businesses, being part of families, and sometimes we have to be quite firm and strict with people and with ourselves. I think there is no need to be unkind or non-empathetic. So kindness is the thing that agrees with me the most in everything I do in life, or I try at least to, but at the same time being strong and standing your ground when you have to. I think it’s just basically being yourself but remembering that it’s not just about you, it’s about others too. So always keep them in mind and always be kind and empathetic.
If you could spend the day with one person, who and where would it be?
Can it be two people!? My husband and my daughter. It would be to Asia; a trip to Bhutan, for sure, so that we can be enhanced spiritually a little bit more! It’s a very colourful part of the world. People live differently. Wisdom is a word that applies a little bit more to that end of the world, especially to this particular region. It would be really nice to travel with my husband Kyriakos and daughter Maya Eleni.
